Marnus Labuschagne Dropped from Australian ODI Lineup to Face India

Marnus Labuschagne has been dropped from Australia's three-game ODI series versus India, as high-performing Queensland teammate Matt Renshaw earning a surprise selection.

Recent Form Lead to Exclusion

Labuschagne has been omitted from the ODI squad following managing only a single run in his two batting efforts during the top-end series against South Africa in August. He has a best innings of 47 in his last 10 ODI innings.

The batsman has featured in 68 one-day internationals and accumulated 1,871 runs at an average of 34.64 runs per dismissal, but will now work towards a Test team comeback ahead of the Ashes starting in Perth on November 21.

Surprise Inclusion and Team Updates

Recent performances suggest of a return to form with a score of 160 for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield this week, while Renshaw also hit a hundred for the Bulls in the same game against Tasmania.

Renshaw could to make his white-ball international debut in the upcoming series against India after his last inclusion in an ODI squad in 2022.

The left-hander has played 14 Test matches with the last coming in India in 2023 but is also hoping for a red-ball recall as Australia search for a fix to their batting top-order problems.

Fast bowler Mitchell Starc is back for the ODI series against India after taking a break since starring for Australia in the whitewash of West Indies in July.

Big Bash star Mitch Owen could make his ODI debut after being concussed in the lead up to Australia’s last 50-over series against South Africa.

ODI captain Pat Cummins continues to be absent as he aims to recover from a spinal issue in time to captain Australia in the first Ashes Test in November.
